Los Reyes de España, Felipe VI y Letizia han entregado los Premios Rei Jaume I en la Lonja de València. Antes, se ha celebrado un homenaje a la figura del científico Santiago Grisolía, su fundador. A la entrega han asistido también por primera vez dos premios Nobel, jurados de los galardones, Finn E. Kydland y Roger Kornberg. Este último ha sido el encargado de dedicar unas palabras a la figura del profesor destacando que “el gran éxito de Santiago en la promoción de la ciencia en España se debió en gran parte a su calidez personal y a la generosidad de su espíritu, a su desinterés y a lo firme de su compromiso, a su sabiduría y a su dignidad. Santiago era un caballero. Los que tuvimos el privilegio de asistirle en el proceso de concesión de los Premios Rei Jaume I seguiremos haciéndolo en su memoria. Las aportaciones de Santiago a la ciencia y a la sociedad en España y a los Premios, son su legado”.
Montserrat Calleja ha sido galardonada con el premio Jaume i en la categoría Nuevas Tecnologías que ha contado con un jurado de excepción en el que se ha contado con seis galardonados con el premio Nobel.
