Announcement of the 11th International Workshop on Nanomechanical Sensing

The NMC 2014 will be held in Madrid from April 30th to May 2nd, 2014. This year we will be celebrating 10 years of the Workshop on Nanomechanical Sensing that befell for the first time in 2004 in Madrid. The conference will take place in the conference room of the Hotel NH Eurobuilding.

The Workshop on Nanomechanical Sensing focuses on sensors based on nanomechanical transducers such as cantilevers, MEMS/NEMS, as well as local probes. Subtopics include:

– Biological sensors
– Chemical sensors
– Instrumentation
– Novel transduction concepts
– Theory & Modeling
– Micro-/Nanofabrication
– Merging with other sensing techniques

This year we will have a special focus session dedicated to the exciting field of cell mechanics.

The NMC 2014 will be sponsored by comunidad de Madrid and FEDER EU through project S2009/MAT-1507. This conference will bring together leaders from both academia and companies to discuss innovative developments in this exciting field in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.

We are looking forward to see you in Madrid.

The Bionanomechanics group has achieved a significant advance in the understanding of the mechanical properties of human cells: it has successfully demonstrated that living cells, specifically human breast epithelial cells, exhibit mechanical resonances, a phenomenon previously considered implausible due to the extraordinary viscosity and complexity of cells in physiological media. https://journals.aps.org/prxlife/accepted/75070K26Wa31f40a872881247617595fa407ee3d3 You can learn more…
